People
Anima brings together researchers, builders, a writer, and collaborators who came to this work through years of close interaction with models. Janus and Antra Tessera founded the institute in 2025.
Janus
Janus's writing on Simulators, Mysteries of Mode Collapse, and Cyborgism helped develop ways of thinking about language models, their relation to the agents that emerge through them, and what humans and models can do together.
Antra Tessera
Antra leads much of Anima's interpretability work, research infrastructure, and alignment agenda. Her work connects questions about what happens inside a model with the environments in which minds can develop, sustain a history, and learn to cooperate.
Around Anima
Our work brings together people with different ways of understanding models. The research, tools, writing, and shared spaces described on this site depend on that collaboration.
